About Author

Miralee and her husband Allen have been married almost 40 yrs. They live on 11 acres in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge in southern Washington State, where they love to garden, play with their dogs, take walks, and go sailing. Miralee also rides her horse on the wooded trails near their home with her grown daughter who lives nearby. She’s an avid reader and has a large collection of first edition Zane Grey books, which inspired her desire to write fiction set in the Old West. When she started writing fiction Miralee believed that she’d always stay with women’s contemporary, but has since branched out to historical romance. Her first two books were women’s contemporary with Kregel Publications, The Other Daughter, and Finding Jeena.

Miralee serves as president of the Portland, Oregon, chapter of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and belongs to a number of writer’s groups. She speaks at women’s groups, libraries, and churches about her writing journey, and has taught a both writers and library conferences.

Her fourth historical romance with Summerside Press in their Love Finds You series, set in Sundance, Wyoming released summer of 2011. Miralee is currently under contract with David C. Cook for a three-book series of historical romance novels, set in Oregon. Some of her books have a suspense thread as well as romance, and three have a higher degree of action with a decided Old West slant. Her upcoming series will be somewhat of a women’s fiction/historical romance combination, with the emphasis on well-developed characters and plot.

My Thoughts

Katherine Galloway wishes she could be excited that her mother is coming for a visit.  But instead she is anticipating a very stressful situation.  Her mother is outspoken and overbearing not having anything nice to say to or about Katherine.  Katherine is treated like an imbecile by her mother.  When in fact she done very well for herself and her two daughters.  She owns a boarding house in Oregon which she has been in full charge of since she became a widow.

Since Micah Jacobs recently moved to Oregon he keeps running into Katherine Galloway.  He has to admit she is an attractive woman but he is not shopping for a new wife.  He still grieves his deceased wife. Anyway Katherine seems to have more on her plate than she can handle.  His teenage son has made fast friends with Mrs. Jacobs daughter at which Mrs. Jacobs seems to object.

Between Katherine dealing with running the boarding house, the arrival of her mother, her daughter's new friendship and then her youngest daughter to keep up with she is just about on her last nerve.

Wouldn't it be nice to have someone to lean on in times of trials and tribulations?  A spouse is would be a marvelous option.  God tends to give to us abundantly when we are not even looking.  For He already has a plan for our lives.

This was a most interesting read.  I have heard of mother-in-laws on the war path but in this story the author has created a character you will not likely forget, a mother from Hades.  I loved the support system the author created for Katherine which was her church quilting group.  We depend on our Lord to comfort us yet He also gives us the church community as a support system.  The author and the Lord had to be very creative in the unlikely romance between Katherine and Micah since there are  so many obstacles in their way.

I highly recommend this book.

I rated this book a 5+ out of 5.

My Thoughts

Christy Grey receives a telegram from her brother urging her to come and care for her ailing mother.  Christy had just gotten settled into her new life with new friends and employment in California but she figured this would be a perfect oppurtunity to reconcile with her mother.  On her long trip to Tombstone, as if the journey wasn't difficult to begin with, the stage coach gets robbed.  Then she no sooner arrives in Tombstone and her brother takes off for his wayward life of gambling leaving her to deal with her ailing mother.  There was little money and even worse there was an almost bare cupboard.  She would have to find some kind of employee right away, just to provide for their necessary needs.

Nevada King is headed for Tombstone to begin a new life and hopefully acquire a wife and his own ranch.  He must stop for one more night before reaching his destination.  With luck, he thought, he rides up on a group of men that have camp set up for the night and hopes they would allow him a bite to eat and a place camp for the night.   But come morning it become apparent these men were not what he had assumed. He meets a lovely women during a stage holdup and then recognizes her latter on after he arrives in Tombstone.  Will Christy turn him into the law assuming he was part of the stage holdup or will outlaws catch up with him first to seek revenge?

It was nice to see the author borrowed the character Christy Grey from her book Love Finds You in Last Chance, California.  She continues with Christy's life in a reconciliation attempt to build a new relationship with her mother and brother.  The author creates many situations which lead the young woman into a new relationship not only with her family but with a handsome cowboy and most importantly God.  This book has trust issues, revival of ones soul, and a mission to save a young women from a world of white slavery.
Showing us how God provides for his children.

I highly recommend this book.

I rated this book a 5 out of 5.

My Thoughts

1887, Texas

Angel Ramirez has been raised and protected by her uncle since the death of her parents when she was a small child.  But now since she has become a young woman he is not able to protect her.  Her uncle runs with cattle rustlers and there is a bad mad man that is determined to make Angel his property.  Angel leaves her uncle protection to get away from this mad man and she takes on a new identity, that of a man.  She now is Angelo De Luca and she is a tracker and ranch hand with a good reputation for the work she does.  Angel aka Angelo moves from ranch to ranch as a tracker and no one suspects she is a woman.

Travis Morgan has a ranch in Sundance, Wyoming and is in need of a good tracker to track down wolves that are killing off his calves. He heard about a tracker that works for a local rancher.  Angelo Ramirez comes highly recommend with a good reputation as a tracker.  Travis has sent word to the Ramirez offering him a job on his ranch.  But when the tracker arrives it is a beautiful woman, Angel Deluca Ramirez claiming to be Angelo Ramirez.

Angela argues her case that just because she is a woman doesn't mean she can't do the same job she has been doing as Angelo the man.  Travis agrees to let her prove she can do the job.

Where will she bunk? Can Travis really expect this beautiful woman to do a man's job?

I admired Angel's tenacity.  She let pride get in the way of God's plan.  This is a woman that has taken care of herself for so long it's hard for her to trust anyone even God.  The author gave this woman courage to be herself and to persevere. If she can only trust God.

The author has written a wonderful story full of intrigue, deception, forgiveness, and romance.   Most importantly trust and faith in God.

I highly recommend this book.

I rated this book a 5 out of 5

My Thoughts

1877 Last Chance, California.

Alexia Travers has many loose ends to tie up after her father's recent death.  Luckily she still has the support of Uncle Joe and Martha.  The ranch hands don't like the idea of working for a woman rancher even if she could hold her own while working and roping the horses.

Unbeknownst to Alex her father had notified Justin Phillips a friend of his to come to Last Chance. Because his life and ranch were in danger. Her father feared for his life and needed Justin to work undercover in hopes of revealing the culprit causing the trouble.  But Justin was not alone, he is a widower with his three year old son.  He no sooner got to town and there was trouble. He soon straightens that mess out and in the process managed to make a few friends in town. He was told he could probably get hired on as ranch hand on a local ranch owned by a woman.  Which he had not problem working for a woman. He just wanted to make sure his son would be looked after while he worked.

Uncle Joe and Martha liked Justin right off and told him if Alex hired him that Martha would be more than happy to watch his son.  Uncle Joe even volunteered to help her with the boy.  Alex recognized Justin from the incident when he first arrived in town so she wasn't too sure about hiring him.  But it looked like his boy and Martha had already bonded so she told Justin she would try him out.  To Alex's surprise Justin turned out to be a big asset to the ranch. He definitely knew his way around a ranch.

Alex uncovered some things about her father and the ranch she had no idea was going on. She is afraid she might lose the ranch.  No way will she let that happen. But now someone is stealing her horses and cutting her fences.

Her distant cousin that really isn't related at all has asked to court her.  But he seems to be into her business way to much.  Justin notices this also and plans on keeping an eye on him.  He made a promise to her father and he plans to see it through.  From the looks of things he is pretty sure her father's death was not an accident.

This book had just the right amount of intrigue, adventure and romance. The author writes about trusting in God and having faith that He has plan for each one of us.  The character of Alex was  head strong and a little to prideful and too independent at times but when she started to trust in God she was able to accept help from others.  Justin was about in the same situation with God, once he let go and let God his whole outlook on life changed.  In my opinion the author has a wonderful story here and it is hard to put down once you start reading.

I highly recommend this book.

I rated this book a 5 out of 5.
