My Thoughts

Amish genre is one of my top reads and in my opinion anything these four authors write is a must read.

In this book these authors gave me several hours of enjoyable reading. Four stories in one book, is a major plus. In all four stories gardens have a special place in the characters spiritual growth. I too have experienced this type spiritual growth while gardening. Authors like these always leave me in a better place in my walk with God after reading their books.

I highly recommend this book.

My Short, Sweet Review. 

Rebecca would love to marry and have a family of her own. Even though she desires to remain Amish she is determined to leave everything behind in order to seek a nursing degree. What plans God has for her may work for some and not so much for others.

Another winner for this series.  I not only recommend  this book but all the other amazing books in this series.

My Thoughts:

Rose was certain that when her intended left to join the military he would not return.  She had assumed he had left not only her but the Amish community.  She just knew he had turned away from the Amish beliefs. When he did return she did not want to see him because he had done the unforgivable by choosing to live among the Englisch.

When she uncovers a secret about her past she fears her own place in the Amish community may b e under scrutiny.

The cover image drew me in and once I opened the book I did not want to put it down.  The author held my attention with the suspense and heartache of so many that surrounded Rose.  The love of her family was far stronger that she gave them credit.  Her beau loved her deeply and was so patient with her many doubts and fears of her future. Loved the book from beginning to end.

I highly recommend this book.

My Thoughts

Lydia Wyse has returned home to West Kootenai, Montana to attend her mother's funeral.  She plans to stay for a few weeks with her dad.  Her dad gives her a Promise Box that her mother had left for her, it was full of prayer and promises from the bible that were dear to her mother's heart for her daughter.  Lydia starts feeling changes in her pulling her back to the Amish ways. She thought she was happy living among the Englisch yet her heart is telling her different.  

Then there is the handsome Amish man,Gideon Hooley whom she met the first day she returned and knew there was something special about him that made her want to know him better. Could she take up the Amish way again? She is definitely feeling God drawing nearer to her leading her back home. 

I love this series and am so excited there will be seven books in this series. The author gives glimpses of several of the characters I fail in love with from book one and how they melted into book two as they befriended Lydia and Gideon and took a role in guiding them to a fulfilling life with God and their community of Amish and English living and growing together. The author writes of  many secrets that were holding these two character back from growing with God and showed them the truth and how the truth would set them free.

I highly recommend this book.

History has a Way of Repeating Itself by Tricia Goyer

Forty years ago a single, young woman was about to give birth. She didn’t know how she could afford a child without her parents’ help. She hadn’t talked to her former boyfriend in months. She had no idea how to reach him, how to tell him she was having his child.

This young woman attended church some, yet her dialogue with God was stilted. How could God let this happen to her? What would her life be like now? A baby girl was born, and upon holding her child this young lady knew things would be okay. Perhaps this baby was a gift, not a burden as she supposed.

This woman raised her daughter the best she could, and while she wanted to give her child more than she had . . . history has a way of repeating itself. When the daughter became a young woman, she found herself in the same situation—living at home, pregnant and scared.

The daughter knew she could raise this child. After all, her mom had done it. But what would her life be like? How could God let this happen to her? If you haven’t guessed already. I was the daughter born to a single mom and as a teenager became a single mom myself. At age 17, God gave me a son. My boyfriend was out of the picture, and I faced raising a child alone with little education, no money and, maybe according to the world, little hope for my future.

Now if you take this story at face value, I am nothing more than a statistic. According to government research, most daughters of young mothers will be teen mothers themselves. They face lives of hardship, living on welfare for the most part — becoming a burden rather than an asset to society.

Yet, I am not a statistic. Why? Because God doesn’t do them.

As a 17-year-old pregnant teenager I prayed a simple prayer, “God, I have messed up my life big time. If you can do anything with it, please do.” I dedicated my life and my heart to him and things changed. I had hope in my heart and I started walking God’s way. God brought an amazing, Christian man into my life. John was a wonderful husband and a father to my son. When had a daughter and another one on the way, God did something else unexpected. He gave me the desire to write books.

This Mother’s Day, my heart is filled with thanksgiving. I’m thankful for my mother who chose life for me. I’m thankful that when I questioned my future, God gave me hope.

History has a way of repeating itself in families, but even more important that our history of mess-ups is God’s history of setting things right. God has a history of seeing something no one else does . . . like seeing a king in a shepherd boy named David, seeing an apostle in a young zealot named Paul, and seeing a mighty warrior in a frightened nobody named Gideon. God’s X-ray eyes see right through any outward characteristics or national statistics. His X-ray eyes scan down to the heart.

Where have you felt you’ve fallen short of God’s perfect plan? Trust that God’s dream is to turn a mess-up into a miracle. He’s a BIG God with BIG dreams. A God who has made an agreement with us that is eternal, final, and sealed. A God who is strong in our weakness. A God who sees the future, sees the past and has a perfect plan for me . . . and for you. It’s something we can all be thankful for.

My Thoughts

Ginny's wishes to become a famous recording artist has come true.  But it seems to be happening so fast with no one to share it with or to even get advice from.  Danny had invited her out to celebrate and  one surprise was a contract he is wanting her to sign but she just does not feel right about something.  As camera flashes were going off Danny gives her a gorgeous diamond necklace.  What kind of commitment was he expecting from her?   She tells him she needs time to think, maybe take a few days off.

When Ginny gets home the only thing she can think of is she needs to speak with her ex-fiance Brett Miller.

She makes flight arrangement to Glacier Bay, Alaska.  But will Brett even want to talk to her after the way she just left him hanging with her ring in his hand to follow her star to fame?

Ginny arrives in Alaskan and  it was breathtakingly beautiful.  She is planning to stay at the Lodge but when she stopped off to meet Brett's grandmother Ethel in order to find out how to get in touch with Brett his grandmother insisted Ginny stay with her until Brett came home.  Ginny felt right at home with Ethel, she was such a sweet woman.  Ginny discover a box of letters from long ago and  Ethel encouraged her to read them.  The letters were an eye opener for Ginny.  Not just as to the history of the letters but of the trials and tribulations of a missionary by the name of Clay.  The letters had a healing affect on her, opening her heart to what God has planned for her in this place.

The authors came together and wrote a story of reconciliation not just with a loved one but with oneself and God.  I loved Ethel and could feel her heart breaking physically and emotionally.  Then there was the comparison between Ellie and Ginny I found most intriguing.  Brett and Clay two men each in a different time still healing from a lose yet yearning to love and with a reluctance to accept a special gift from God for fear of lose again. 

I highly recommend this book.

My Thoughts

Sarah Shelter baked the best cupcakes in West Kootenai, Montana.  Some of the visiting young Amish bachelors claim they are the best they have ever eaten.  

Sarah has been invited to go hiking up the mountain with some of the local Amish girls and some visiting Amish Bachelors.  It was to be a fun outing.  She needs to make new friends.  She has mourned the loss of her best friend for some time now. The young woman drowned in a boating accident.  Sarah must move on with her life but it is so hard to forget that tragic day and the loss of her friend.  

On the hiking trip circumstances beyond her control bring Sarah and Jathan Schrock, one of the bachelors together.  She must trust him to get her back down the mountain.  His kindness and attentiveness touched her heart. They were able to share their dreams with each other and Sarah told him about the loss of her friend and the pain of that loss. Sarah even told him about the Memory Jar. She has found a new friend in this handsome young Amish man.  Will she be able to trust him with her heart and dreams.

Sarah is a beautiful character she has so much love for God and her fellow man whether they be Amish or English.  When she leaves her mountain she feels the pressure of change and some people attempt to stifle her brilliant light of love, along with her dreams.

The character Jathan is the youngest in his large family and he feels burdened by the goals and demands of his family especially his father.  He has never been able to share his dream for the future with them. But with Sarah it was different she encourages him to follow his dream if it is God's will.  He ends up letting other people cloud his judgement which in turn caused a lot of people pain.

 Fear seemed to play a big role in this story.  

Tricia Goyer knows how to grab your attention and keep it.   The story is a valuable life lesson that will inspire the reader. 

I highly recommend this book.
